How Delzur Regenerates

Indigenous‑Led, Place‑Based Reforestation
Most of the communities we partner with—Wayúu, Arhuaco, Kogui, Kamentzá, Eperara Siapidara, Cubeo and others—reforest as part of their ancestral governance. We back their leadership, resources and local knowledge so restoration is culturally rooted and long‑term.

Biodiversity Artistry
When you buy Delzur, you sustain traditional crafts and livelihoods. This keeps elders’ knowledge alive, funds community priorities (seed collection, nurseries, monitoring), and reduces pressure to extract from forests—creating a regenerative loop where culture protects nature.

Partnerships & Accountability
We co‑design projects with community authorities and technical partners. Our role is to be the bridge: channel funding, open markets, track impact with communities and share transparent updates.

Why mangroves are regenerative powerhouses
Mangroves are coastal forests that buffer storms and erosion, provide nurseries for fish, crustaceans and birds, filter sediments to improve water quality and store exceptional amounts of carbon in biomass and soils.

Bahía Hondita & the surrounding protected landscape
Bahía Hondita sits within the coastal mosaic of northern La Guajira—between Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas—where mangroves, seagrasses and coral formations interconnect with beaches, rocky shores and coastal lagoons. In this region, mangroves are habitat for resident and migratory birds, feeding grounds for sea turtles, and refuge for commercially important fish. Community knowledge identifies sacred places where the balance of life is cared for.

#1 What we’re doing here
- Supporting propagule/seed collection and community nurseries with Wayúu knowledge keepers.
- Sharing open updates on sites, methods and outcomes with Wayúu authorities.

#2 How you can help
